This years honorees:
Carole O’Shea, coordinator of the Victim Services Unit of the Aurora Police Department, managing the staff advocates as well as 45 volunteers, has served our community since 1998 in countless ways. Carole and her team served a significant role following the 7/20 shootings.
Dan Georgopulos, founder of Hands of The Carpenter, a faith-based nonprofit serving single mothers and widows by providing automobile repair and maintenance in an effort to relieve the enormous financial burden and related distress that repair puts on this population and their opportunity for economic self-sufficiency.
George (Skip) Noe, Aurora’s city manager, helped more a community from tragedy to healing following last summer’s theater shootings. He remained a steadfast anchor through it all, mindful of victim needs, community priorities and employee wellness, and supportive of the city’s outstanding first responders.
Jennifer McBride, President & Co-founder of HeartLight Center, followed a dream she had 15 years ago to create a center for grief support that is warm and welcoming to all. That dream resulted in HeartLight Center having cared for thousands over the last 10 years.

Come and share your experience with others who are walking a similar path. Facilitator: Jennifer McBride

What Not to Say to Grieving People

June 6
Thursday

7 pm
When we have experienced the death of someone we love, we know that people around us want to say something that makes a difference to us in our grief. People can be very well-meaning but say some things to us that are NOT helpful. This session is a safe and open time to share your experiences and feelings. Through conversation we can help each other learn ways to respond and to educate those around us.
 Facilitator: Marguerite Ham
Cost: $10.00
